In our long teaching praxis we recognise that each person prefers different learning styles and techniques. It is why we use a variety different teaching methods to get the same message across and make sure that no one is left out or falls behind. It is our way of making sure that all participants engage with all of the subject content, especially the key concepts and learning points. Our trainings consist of different sessions combining short lectures and practical exercises and involves a great deal of interaction. Simulations and team exercises aim to not only identify, but to fully understand the key differences in cultural behavior. During the training, members of different cultures automatically start explaining their own cultural pre-programming to others thereby creating a deep learning experience for all participants. And the positive energy which evolves is truly amazing!

INTERCULTURAL TRAINING METHODS APPLIED IN THE TRAINING

Our training consists of different sessions combining short lectures and practical exercises and involves a great deal of interaction. Simulations and team exercises aim to not only identify, but to fully understand the key differences in cultural behavior. This allows the participant to apply the new knowledge and skills immediately upon arrival in the foreign country.

SUMMARY OF OUR METHODS APPLIED IN THE TRAINING:

Trainer Input. Theoretical short lectures and multimedia presentation
Communication exercises. We learn how to improve cross-cultural communication
Case studies – based on specific culture. A case study is a description of a realistic situation including sufficient detail of the perspectives of the different characters to make it possible for the participants in a training program to analyse the problems involved and to determine possible solutions.
Simulation games and role plays. The major and most appropriate purpose of a role play is skill building. It is a training activity where participants take on characteristics of people other than themselves in order to learn how to interact in specific situations with members of a specific culture.
Interactive video exercises – viewing recorded situations at work and analysing the different approaches.

OUR INTEGRAL APPROACH

HOW DO WE WORK?

The educational space which we create has four irreducible dimensions that are all equally important for us and are always included in multiple ways: subjective experience, objective behaviour, intersubjective culture, and inter objective systems. Each of these four dimensions has depth and complexity that develops over time; this development is facilitated during our session. In particular, we monitor how we are meeting our participants, where they are developmentally and not placing them in over their heads.We also recognise that it is crucial to attend to the multiple developmental lines in us as facilitators as well as in participants of our trainings. This involves understanding the complex relationship between the capacity to take multiple perspectives (the cognitive line), to interact in meaningful ways with others (the interpersonal line), and to engage in world-centric ethical action (the moral line).Additionally we must recognise and work creatively with the many natural and non-ordinary states of embodiment and awareness that we and our participants cycle through both in the training room and in daily life in response to training content and activities. The more that we can support them in accessing various gross, subtle, causal, and witnessing states, the more fluid they will be in their own embodied awareness.

Finally, because there are many types of learners and dimensions of learning, we work with multiple typologies in order to provide the most responsive and effective educational space. Key typological categories we use include: the five senses, gender, personality, and preferred narrative style (i.e., first-, second-, and third-person).
